Since 2011, Oeiras Municipal Council uses the XRP |Pool application for managing its car fleet. In the April/May issue of Oeiras Atual, the municipal newsletter of Oeiras Municipal Council, there is a reference both to cost reductions and unquestionable environmental benefits achieved with Escrita Digital’s XRP |Pool software application for the car fleet management of that municipality.
In Oeiras Atual April/May 2012 issue, the Oeiras Municipal Council newsletter, it is referred the assets of a new model for the management of the municipal car fleet. This new model adopted by the municipal council was named "CarPooling" and it is supported by XRP |Pool, a software application of the XRP |Fleets tools family entirely conceived and developed by Escrita Digital.With this "CarPooling" model for shared-use vehicles management, Oeiras, a county of the Lisbon Metropolitan Area (LMA) already awarded with the prize of “Municipality of Excellence” by the Fontes Pereira de Melo Institute in 2009, managed to “reduce its municipal car fleet in 12,1%”, a value which implies that “in four years there will be a € 461.176 saving (both in direct costs and taxes no longer supported by the municipality)”.Besides these obvious financial benefits this model for managing shared-use vehicles adopted by the municipality of Oeiras has also allowed a real saving of around three tonnes of CO2, an undeniable environmental gain.The XRP |Fleets is a three modules software application meant to be used either altogether or separately. As it is based on the concepts of portal and workflow this software application provides significant gains both in terms of productivity as well as in terms of cost reductions.The XRP |Fleets modules are: XRP |Fleet Management, an application which manages the entire car fleet of an organisation as well as its complements, such as fuel cards, Via Verde (a Portuguese electronic toll collection system) identifiers, parking; the XRP |Pool, an application for managing groups of vehicles in a car-sharing system; and XRP |Repair Management, a tool designed for the management of an organisation’s car repair system.
